Beauty Pie Vitamin C Ampoules

I do so love my skincare. To be fair I'm pretty much a sucker for anything new. But whereas I always used to spend a small fortune on the latest make me look a gazzilion times younger, smells amazing face cream, I now look for new things on the cheap(er) side of the market. Then about a year ago I discovered Beauty Pie. And this for me has been a game changer when it comes to affordable skincare. I am literally like a child in a sweet shop when I go on their website to view the wondrous goodies. And I know just how being a child in a sweet shop feels, my grandparents owned one. A Victorian building with rows and rows of jars all the way up to the ceiling filled with delicious (and oh so bad for you) sugary delights.  I thought I'd start sharing some of my favourite products with you. Let's start with a review of Superdose C, one of my new Beauty Pie must haves.

Having talked all things sweet there's no sugar coating that as you get older your skin (well in fact your whole body) succumbs to the laws of gravity. It looses firmness, starts to sag, lines develop, your once youthful glow disappears, pores become enlarged and years of sun damage (even if you've always used sunscreen) start to show through. Oh and don't get me started on chin hair! Now that sounds like I'm being being a misery guts but I promise I'm not. I'm a realist, the ageing process comes to us all. But that doesn't mean we have to take it lying down does it? I'm grabbing middle age by the bollocks and showing it who's boss. I'm determined to grow old as disgracefully as I can.

SIMPLE AND ELEGANT AND YET EFFECTIVE PACKAGING

As I said earlier I discovered Beauty Pie around a year ago.  If you haven't heard of them they approach skincare from a whole new perspective. Basically you join a club, paying a monthly membership fee which then gives you access to their products which are a fraction of the cost of the high end companies. The great bit is they use all the same laboratories as the luxury brands but cut out the middlemen and pass the savings on to us. I love also that you have a monthly spending limit. And you can choose to purchase ever month or allow you spending limit to accumulate over time.

have the same collective buying power as the big brands.
You get the same luxury quality cosmetics and high performance skincare, without paying for the middlemen, the celebrity marketing or retailer costs.

Beauty Pie Super Dose C Review

Right, let's get on with the review of Superdose C shall we? Firstly lets take a look at what it promises to do. From visibly brightening skin to evening out skin tone and pigmentation. Shall we see how I got on?

CRUELTY-FREE
VEGAN

Suitable for

All skin types

Key Benefits

Japanese VITAMIN C, freeze-dried, for competitive anti-agers.

  • PURE FREEZE-DRIED VITAMIN C 3.5% (ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE NA & ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE MG) powerful penetrative forms of antioxidant Vitamin C that provide protection against free radicals and UV, and visibly brighten and even skin tone/pigmentation
  • TREMELLA FUCIFORMIS POLYSACCHARIDES – is a polysaccharide extracted from the edible fruit bodies of the Chinese Silver Ear mushroom. Chemically and physically similar to hyaluronic acid, it has a high moisturising effect and improves skin hydration.
  • HYALURONIC ACID – boosts skin's moisture content, soothes, and defends against dehydration and water loss. It can hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, making it an optimal hydrator for all skin types.

Now I have always used luxury skincare brands since I was in my late teens. One of my first jobs was with Charles Of The Ritz (a brand sadly no longer with us) and from that moment forwards I was a skincare junkie. This does come with a downside though. Having used only the best for many years a new product needs to be bloody amazing for me to be able to see any difference in my skin. So you can only imagine how happy I am if I notice any differences.

Superdose C  is a 4 week treatment and so much fun to use. It arrives in stylish packaging but not overdone. There's no plastic wrapping either. Inside the box you receive 4 ampoules containing freeze dried vitamin c and an ampoule of activator. Here's the instructions on how to use it.

Instructions for Use

1. Carefully open a single FREEZE DRIED AMPOULE, and pour the AMPOULE ACTIVATOR into the ampoule, up to the line marked ACTIVATOR LEVEL.

2. Replace the rubber plug in the top of the bottle, and shake well to dissolve the powder, creating a uniform solution.

3. Remove the rubber plug and replace it with the long dispensing nozzle.

4. Pat the fresh VITAMIN C liquid mixture onto clean skin, morning and evening, under your moisturizer. Use contents of ampoule within 1 WEEK.

For best results, use for 28 days consecutively.

It really is fun mixing up each ampoule. You feel as though you're working on a secret concoction with a youthful glow as your destiny. Couple of downsides here though which I feel should be shared. Firstly, given that each active ampoule has to be used within 7 days it would be helpful to know how many drops you need to use. The first week I had loads left over. And the second week I had none left by day five. I sort of had to make it up as I went along. And secondly I wonder why you receive 4 plastic dispensing nozzles? It feels wasteful. Could we not just have one and reuse it for each active ampoule?

It's extremely easy to use though it is quite watery so you need to be careful not to drop any. I found the easiest way around this was to shake the contents of the ampoule out into the palm of my hand. Rub my hands together and then pat it allover my face and neck. The patting action helps it to absorb and brings a nice glow to your skin too. Once it's absorbed apply your daily moisturiser. Oh, and don't forget your sunscreen too. It's pointless spending hard earned pennies on scrummy skincare if you then throw it all away with sun damage. I'm an SPF25 girl through and through!

So let's get down to the nitty gritty!

Does Superdose C do what it says on the tin? Is it any good? And more importantly did I notice any changes? The truth is I bloody love it. It gives my skin that look that you always get when you're on holiday. Dewy and relaxed. It's also evened out my skin tone, not as much I was hoping for but there's definitely a difference. In fact I love it so much I've just bought my second lot.

I'm hoping that the pigmentation issues will improve some more with another go. And it's definitely now in my top ten must haves. Why not give it a try, I'm sure it won't disappoint. How about you?
